Minnesota Win Evens Series at 1
|
With designated hitter Randy Edwards leading the charge, the Minnesota Twins got a road win over the Boston Red Sox, 11-3, in Game 2 of the League Championship Series today. Edwards went 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 at Fenway Park 1976 to help Minnesota force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Chet Lemon? The Minnesota center fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Twins on top, 5-2. For the game, Lemon had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I felt good up there," said Edwards. "I saw the ball well."
Game 3 is set to be played Friday, October 8th, 1982 at Metrodome 1983. Slated to start are Gary Perritt for Boston and Steve Trout for Minnesota.
