Trout Handcuffs Red Sox, Twins Seize 2-1 Advantage in LCS
The Minnesota Twins moved to within one game of the World Series today, downing the visiting Boston Red Sox at Metrodome 1983 by a score of 2-1. Twins left-hander Steve Trout had a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings allowing 1 run. The win gives the Twins a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 League Championship Series.

Had Randy Edwards not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Edwards hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Twins.

"It was a good effort all around," said Edwards.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Minneapolis. The scheduled starters for the game are Dom Chiti for Boston and Marcos Ortega for Minnesota.
