Blue Jays Collect 8-6 Win Over Athletics
The Toronto Blue Jays downed the Oakland Athletics, 8-6, in 10 innings. Jose Gonzalez led the way, going 3-for-6 for Toronto. Toronto reliever Burt Nordstrom was the winner. His record is now 3-3. Bob Falcon took the loss. Juan Gutierrez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 18 save opportunities.

The result might have been different for Toronto, had it not been for Jason Adams. The right fielder produced a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 7-6. For the game, Adams had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"The vibe's good," said Toronto manager Randy Potter. "We've got to keep it going."

The last-place Athletics have lost 10 consecutive games.
