Brewers Jolt Tigers, 3-1, with Late Rally
The Milwaukee Brewers topped the Detroit Tigers, 3-1, in American League action at Tiger Stadium 1980. The standout performance belonged to Milwaukee pitcher and Kokomo, Indiana, native Tom Underwood. The winning pitcher was Underwood, now 12-8. He tossed 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 3. Andy Messersmith got the save, his 13th in 17 chances.

Milwaukee used a timely hit from Eddie Murray to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Brewers ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Underwood told the Milwaukee Herald.

The win gives Milwaukee a season record of 73-72.
