Blyleven Now 2-0 After Subduing Braves

The Chicago Cubs beat the Atlanta Braves, 1-0, at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium 1974. Starting pitcher Bert Blyleven was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Tom Niedenfuer recorded his 4th save for Chicago. The loss makes Atlanta 13-9.
Blyleven's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 2 strikeouts in 8.1 innings while allowing 4 hits. Blyleven, who finished 4th in the AL in innings pitched with 321.0 in 1972, goes to 2-0 on the year with 7 strikeouts.
