The Houston Astros picked up a win at Shea Stadium 1979, knocking off the New York Mets, 3-2. Starting pitcher Kevin Carr played a key role in the triumph. The save went to Luis Aponte, number 7 for him. Houston has now won 4 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for Houston, had it not been for John Castino, the 27-year old third baseman . Castino contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the seventh inning to put Houston up, 3-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Houston manager Michael Rogner. "It's usually not just one thing."
