San Francisco Mathematically Eliminated from Playoffs Thursday, September 9th, 1982 Things haven't been going too well for the San Francisco Giants this season and now mathematics is against them as well. The club has been officially eliminated from postseason contention. San Francisco last appeared in the postseason in 1962. This is their 20th consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 84 times in their 100-year history.
