Postseason Bid Ends for St. Louis
Sunday, September 26th, 1982
It's the better-luck-next-time point of the season for the St. Louis Cardinals. The club was officially eliminated from playoff contention today, and will turn their attention to next year's campaign.

"You know, the average player doesn't get that many seasons, so every time you're eliminated, it hurts," said Cardinals starting pitcher Steve Carlton.

This is the club's 4th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 1978. In the last 10 seasons, the Cardinals have missed the playoffs 5 times. In total, the Cardinals have missed the playoffs 83 times in their 100-year history. St. Louis has won the World Series 10 times in their history.
