Reds Come up Short of Playoffs Tuesday, September 28th, 1982 While they stayed relevant until late in the season, a playoff berth wasn't meant to be this season for the Cincinnati Reds. The club was eliminated from playoff contention today. "Even though we knew where things stood, it's a disappointment," Reds manager Jonathan Powles said. Cincinnati last appeared in the postseason in 1980. This is their 2nd consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 98 times in their 111-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Reds have only missed the playoffs once. Cincinnati last won the World Series in 1977. |
