Tidewater Tides starter Bud Yanus came up big today at Lucas County Stadium with an exceptional 5-0 outing against the Toledo Mud Hens. Not only did he whip them, but Yanus held them hitless, too.

"My arm was a bit sore in warmups," confessed Yanus. "Sometimes you go out there and you're not feeling all that hot. You get into the game and all of a sudden in the seventh inning you look up and see the scoreboard and think to yourself, 'Oh, my goodness, I have a no-hitter!' You're so focused on what you're doing, it just happens."

In the course of the no-hitter, Yanus collected 2 strikeouts and surrendered 1 walk -- a day good enough to get his name in the history books.

So far this year Yanus has made 25 starts, tossed 183.2 innings, struck out 91 batters and walked 46. His record is 10-11 with a 3.58 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .225 batting average.
