IL Hands Out Reliever of the Year Award

He may only be 21, but Owen Foley of the Columbus Jets has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the International League.

The reliever was today named the IL Reliever of the Year Award winner for 1982.

He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 26 saves in 54 relief appearances and 67 strikeouts in 63.2 innings. He had a record of 5-3 to go with his 1.55 ERA.

He received 9 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Mark C Smith of the Columbus Clippers finished second in voting, while Phil Nastu of the Louisville Stallions finished third.
