Broersma Chosen August's Best EL Hurler Wednesday, September 1st, 1982 In August, Eric Broersma tore through the Eastern League like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 22 years old. The young Lynn starter posted a 5-1 mark and an ERA of 1.39 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 45.1 innings he collected 44 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .132 average. So far this season, Broersma has logged a 12-7 record with a 3.41 ERA. He has started 25 games, hurled 171.2 innings and registered 140 strikeouts and 87 walks. |
