EL News: The Offseason Begins Thursday, September 23rd, 1982 The last cheers for the 1982 EL champions still hang in the air as the baseball season has come to a close. Lockers sit empty, while fans and media reflect on the season just concluded. The players are already relaxing, taking advantage of this opportunity to heal some of the aches and pains from the long season. Meanwhile, general managers and team staff take stock of their teams and plot roster moves. Scouts are busier than ever, hoping to find that hidden gem that will boost their own fortunes as well as their team's. In a few months, the new landscape of Eastern League will become apparent, as the preseason gets under way.
