James Quinn was a calming influence out of the Albuquerque Dukes bullpen this season.

His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 25-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Texas League Reliever of the Year Award for 1982.

The The United States native won the award with 31 saves in 52 relief appearances, 35 strikeouts in 63 innings and a record of 4-3 to go with his 2.00 ERA.

He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Claude Brodeur of the Arkansas Travelers finished second in voting, while Tom McGough of the Dallas-Fort Worth Rangers finished third.
