Franco Hurls Crushers to Shutout Victory
Tuesday, July 13th, 1982
The Lodi Crushers did little to support starter John Franco against the Fresno Grizzlies, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Grizzlies, striking out 4 and surrendering 4 hits. The performance from Franco allowed Lodi to escape with the 2-0 win despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said 'John, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Franco told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."

So far this season Franco has a 12-11 record, 29 starts, 216.2 innings, 114 strikeouts and a 3.86 ERA.
