At the young age of only 22, Chuck McKinney has been named the California League Reliever of the Year Award winner for 1982.

The future appears bright for the Fresno Grizzlies relief ace, who captured the award with 25 saves in 46 relief appearances, 42 strikeouts in 51.1 innings and a record of 2-5 to go with his 2.28 ERA.

He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 9. Miguel Monrroy of the Stockton Ports finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Nelson Torres of the Fresno Grizzlies finished third.
