Acevedo Twirls 1-0 Shutout Saturday, August 14th, 1982 The bats were ice cold today for the Tampa Pirates at Al Lopez Field. Pompano Beach Stingrays starter Ricky Acevedo kept the Pirates cold all day, shutting them out in a 1-0 victory. In a fine outing, the 22-year-old hurler allowed 4 hits while striking out 6 and walking 4. "I'm not quite sure what was different today," Acevedo admitted later.
