Diaz Gets Award for Relief Work

He may only be 24, but Carlos A Diaz of the Dunedin Blue Jays has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the Florida State League.

The reliever was today named the FSL Reliever of the Year Award winner for 1982.

He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 19 saves in 38 relief appearances and 41 strikeouts in 39.2 innings. He had a record of 6-3 to go with his 2.27 ERA.

He received 11 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Don Kainer of the Pompano Beach Stingrays finished second in voting, while Joe Boever of the Lakeland Pilots finished third.
