WCL Reliever of the Year Award Winner Named

At the young age of only 22, Byron Jackson has been named the Western Carolinas League Reliever of the Year Award winner for 1982.

The future appears bright for the Greenwood Grizzlies relief ace, who captured the award with 14 saves in 35 relief appearances, 38 strikeouts in 38.1 innings and a record of 6-4 to go with his 3.76 ERA.

He received 6 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Dave Wareham of the Sumter Gamecocks finished second in voting, while David Cammack of the Gastonia Rockets finished third.
