Franks Tosses 8-0 Shutout Monday, August 9th, 1982 John Franks subdued the Wausau Timbers, 8-0, pitching a 6-hit gem for the Waterloo Hawks at Timbers Park. "He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Waterloo skipper said afterward. Franks registered 5 strikeouts and issued 2 walks in his superb performance. "We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Wausau manager after the defeat. This season Franks has compiled a 10-11 mark with a 4.27 ERA in 20 starts. View Boxscore |
