Best MWL Reliever Named
Monday, September 13th, 1982
Scott Bailes said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 20 years old.

But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Wisconsin Rapids Timber Rattlers rising star has won the Midwest League Reliever of the Year Award for 1982.

He captured the award on the strength of his 3.02 ERA over 59.2 innings. He also had 16 saves in 47 relief appearances, 48 strikeouts and only 34 walks.

He received 11 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jaime Cocanower of the Appleton Foxes finished second in voting, while Alan Holbrook of the Wausau Timbers finished third.
