Carrasco Sizzles with 31-Game Batting Streak Friday, August 27th, 1982 With 2 hits at Ballpark of Wrecks today, Norm Carrasco added another game to his hitting streak -- the Bellingham second baseman has now hit safely for 31 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Mariners today, as they fell, 9-2, to the Renton Wrecks. "Frankly, I don't care about hits," Renton manager said later. "I'll let him get 5 hits in 5 at-bats if it means we get a win." Norm Carrasco singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, struck out in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. For the year Carrasco is batting .357 with 107 hits and no home runs. He has scored 50 times and driven in 30. |
