Walla Walla Stopper Takes Pitcher of the Year Award

The Northwest League announced today that Jorge Espinoza has been chosen the Pitcher of the Year Award winner for 1982. The Walla Walla hurler had everything working for him as he cruised to an outstanding 10-2 record.

Espinoza put up an impressive 2.02 ERA in his award-winning season. He started 13 times, worked 107 innings, yielded 84 hits, walked 41, fanned 63 and held opposing hitters to a .212 average.

He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 10. Ramon Mascorro of the Kennewick Bear Cubs finished second in voting, while Faustino Fortinho of the Kennewick Bear Cubs finished third.
