Pitcher of the Year Award Presented to Dunedin Star

The Gulf Coast League announced today that Ron Darling has been chosen the Pitcher of the Year Award winner for 1982. The Dunedin starter had everything working for him this past season as he breezed to a 10-2 record.

In his award-winning season Darling crafted a 1.36 ERA in 125.2 innings with 127 strikeouts and 45 walks. Opposing batters hit .124 against him in his 15 starts.

He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Juan Nieves of the Sarasota Eagles finished second in voting, while Bill Mooneyham of the Galveston Sand Crabs finished third.
